Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.

The Fall season has officially fallen upon us (like a load of bricks, in my opinion).
Classically, we know this to be the time of year when we settle in, bundle up, light a fire and lower the blinds. The hours of daylight shorten, and we join with Simon & Garfunkel in singing: “Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again…”
I hope I’m not depressing anyone.
My purpose is just the opposite:  to ENCOURAGE YOU.
Let me encourage you in this season to fully enjoy the seasonal rhythms and pace. Be with family and loved ones. Eat leisurely meals with friends. Read a good book.
Light a fire.
Snuggle with the kids.
Play some games on the floor.
Go to bed early (I think I just heard a groan from parents with young kids!).
These ideas, and many more, are wonderful opportunities that take advantage of the Fall season. But in all of it, remember JESUS. Keep Him at the center of your homes, meals, conversations and hearts.
The season may be FALL, but it doesn’t mean you or I have to FALL AWAY.
Instead, stay very close to Jesus. And stay close to Jesus’ people also. Don’t forsake meeting together in small groups, Bible studies, and weekend services. Keep praying, serving, giving and loving.
And, while you’re at it, get yourself a Pumpkin Spiced Latte. They’re only around for a limited time!
Grace & Peace to you,
Pastor John
