Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.
This last week in our PAUSE Bible Reading Plan, we began reading the Book of John…again. I love the Book of John and included it a few times in our reading plan because of that love, but also because it is one of the clearest presentations of the Gospel and ministry of Jesus that we have in the Scriptures.
John 1 speaks of a huge theological concept called the “incarnation,” which is the embodiment of deity in the flesh.
God in a nutshell: JESUS.
Eugene Peterson, who wrote a paraphrase of the Bible, called The Message, put it this way:
“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish” (vs. 14).
Moved into the neighborhood. I love that.
Here’s a question for you: Has HE moved into YOUR neighborhood? And if so, have you WELCOMED him?
