Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.

Hello Friends,
In Acts 4 a gentleman named Barnabas comes upon the scene. He is affectionately known as the “Son of Encouragement” (I guess there are worse nicknames to have!).

I think…
His name denoted his nature.

His designation was his demeanor.

Barnabas was a positive, encouraging, uplifting, blessed to be a blessing, kind of person!

Throughout the Book of Acts we find multiple examples of this extraordinary spirit of Barnabas. Often it involved a young, upstart named Saul. We know him now as Paul the Apostle, but I often wonder if Saul would have ever become Paul if it wasn’t for the positive heart of Barnabas.

How many potential Paul’s are there within our sphere of influence that are trapped in the externals of Saul?

Saul’s have a history, are recognized as troublemakers, and are often deeply misunderstood by the masses.

Who are the Saul’s around you that you can be a Barnabas to?
