Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.

Hello Friends,

This week’s email devotional comes from our Associate Pastor Cory Knowland. Join Cory as he unpacks Hebrews 13:8, the verse that can be found in our auditorium as well as Foursquare churches throughout the world.  Cory is using a devotional method called SOAP. You can do this same thing with your daily Bible reading.  Just write out one or two verses, make general observations, hone in on a point of application then finish with a prayer. It’s that’s simple…and powerful!

Pastor John

Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

We are being given a truth and a promise at the same time with this scripture, and it speaks to the consistency of our God. What the Lord said, is saying today, and may say in the future will never be in conflict with what He has already said and done through the Word of God, through His promises, and through His plan for eternity, ever.

When you don’t know what God is saying to you now, go back to what God has said before. When you pray for an answering concerning something, and you feel you have not yet gotten an answer, that may very well be the answer for the moment. God may be, in His silence, saying “don’t change a thing right now”. You may be right where you need to be, doing what you need to be doing, with whom you need to be doing it with, the way you are supposed to be doing it. Sometimes His silence is the answer. Stay right where you are and wait patiently. He will respond.

Father, we covet your wisdom as we seek your face, your favor and your fellowship. Lead us, help us patiently wait to hear your perfect will and timing for our lives, our requests, our needs, and even our wants Lord. Nothing is hidden from you. Thank you that you hear all our request and are faithful to respond in your perfect timing. Amen.
