Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.
Years ago in an affluent neighborhood in Southern California, a family decided to go out around Christmas-time and serenade their neighbors with carols. At one of the houses where they stopped, there was hectic confusion with Christmas preparations and with rushing and tension; so the lady opened the door and said to the singers, “Not now, please; we’re too busy.” The gentleman in the group quietly and graciously said, “Yes, ma’am,” and they left.
It was Bing and Kathy Crosby with their family.
Now, if you’re younger then you may not have a clue who Bing Crosby was. Bing was one of the best-selling recording artists of the 20th century, with over a half-billion albums in circulation.
In a nutshell: he was the Justin Timberlake of his time. Not exactly someone you would slam the door on while he’s singing on your front porch!
What’s my point?
Here it is: Slow down. Listen to the music. Enjoy the season. Don’t miss the special moments.
Classically, this is a crazy busy time of the year. I get it. It’s the same for me and my family. So, let’s commit to one another to slow down, be present, and make room for Jesus (and others) this season. We can do it!
By the way, Bing Crosby singing “White Christmas” on MY front porch would have been AMAZING!
