Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.

Hello Friends,

There are so many subjects, applications and ideas that are rightly part of the life of fellowship of Christian people; so many styles of ministry, or music, or meetings that can decorate the landscape of our life together.  The spectrum is rightly as wide and varied as the bouquet that makes up our many personalities.  And, yet, in the midst of all those variables, at the center of all that is right and good in God’s love for you and me, there is just One name.

Philippians 2:5-11, like perhaps no other passage in all the Scriptures, reveals what is unique to that One name.  Out of the fullness of God there is expressed the manifestation of human person-hood, assumed and lived-out in full identification with each and all of us; walking the full experience, yet without fault or failure in sin; not only qualified, but willing to absorb upon and into Himself what He did not deserve, not as God nor as man.  For our sin, you and I do deserve the consequence of God’s justice and  judgement.  But the One who could take it for you, did take it for you.  Trusting in that One, you are excused. What a statement!  He died as you should have, in your place with your load of grief, guilt and shame upon Him, so that you could be excused from the sentence that must be executed upon sin against God.  He provided you with a better death, and because He is risen and restored to His full Godhood, He can now provide you  a better life.  That’s the Person with Whom you are involved, if you place your faith upon Him and what He has done for you.

Do you know that we are given no personal name for the Father? …only titles and descriptive words, and the unpronounceable four-consonant expression that can only be uttered as a breath.  No eye has seen the Father.  No sinful person could survive in His presence.  We are given no personal name for the Holy Spirit.  Only One name is given whereby we, who are in the most desperate of all need, may know God and become mercifully related to Him.  There is just One name.

Without Him you are adrift with your pride and fear, and that only by your own choice, for He is calling you to simply believe upon His name.

“… for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.  “… that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 4:10-11.

Is anything keeping you from trusting and following Him, right now?   Jesus is His name.

Following Him,

Pastor Rich
