Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.
From the very beginning of the creation of man, faith has always been the way to please God. So what is faith? We find one Biblical definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Faith is not a feeling; faith is a response. Faith is an action to what we believe. True faith is a confident obedience to God’s word in spite of all the circumstances and consequences in your life.
Read Chapter 11 of Hebrews and take note of what action each person listed took in response to their faith. Faith results in action. That’s what James said; faith and action work together. In other words, God said it and I am going to do it because His word is always right; regardless of how I feel or what I think.
So if faith is so important, how do we get faith? Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Your faith will grow as you read, understand and apply the Word of God to your life. In this you will be pleasing to God.
Grace and peace,
