HELLO FRIENDS: 07.17.14 – Shalom

Hello Friends,
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”  2 Thessalonians 3:16

The Apostle Paul’s closing benediction to the church of the Thessalonians is a pronouncement of PEACE.

SHALOM (which means peace in Hebrew).

Interestingly, many of us live in the City of Shalom…Salem. And, if you don’t then you most likely live in or around Salem.

So, this is my prayer for YOU today:

“God, will You, as the Lord of peace, give your shalom to those that live in or around the City of Shalom. May we experience a depth of connection and settledness in your Spirit. May we walk in your will and minister out of your strength and compassion. Today my prayer is that You would be our peace, and that peace would guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.”

Blessings,

John

    Hi Pastor John,

I am always amazed that your message and God’s word is so in tune with my daily life. You are a gift to this church.
I need peace in my life right now! I am struggling with the demands of work. I am letting stress dominate and paralyze me, making me less effective than I need to be. My boss even asked me the other day if everything is okay in my life because she has noticed my work performance slipping.
My relationship with my assistant manager is terrible and I have asked God to bring me peace and help me create a better relationship with her so we can both do our jobs better. As I write this, it occurred to me that maybe I should also be praying for her.
The other big stress in my life right now is that my Mom is in a nursing home recovering from a broken hip and not doing well. There is a lot going on, kidney failure and dementia among many other problems that are causing her to not recover.
Thanks for being such a wonderful pastor. I love your style. Your humor and delivery helps your message really hit home. My wife and I came to WSFC from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and while WSFC is outside our box just a bit, that is a good thing. I personally always wanted more from the church. More interaction between members of the church and more getting into the word of God. We have found a new home and are enjoying our journey.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and peace be with you!
