2014 WSFC Half-Year Update
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you… may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
Summer has begun, and this is a great time for a refreshing update. As the verse above declares, the grace of the Lord Jesus, His presence and all that He brings, is abundant in our wonderful fellowship. Half of 2014 has now unfolded, revealing blessings, and pointing us all toward more in the months to come. As Pastor John envisioned in January, this is a year of more.
WSFC Financial highlights update:
New Year blessing turns to giving challenge: 2013 ended strong, with a good reserve fund, and a great start for 2014. But, while expenses have been held a bit under budget, our general giving is about 5% short of expenses this year. Some reserve funds have been utilized so far. We are seeking to be wise about projects and maintenance, while continuing the pursuit of mission growth. Have you noticed as you follow Jesus that seasons of blessing are often followed by seasons of challenge? I trust that this is one of those faith-increasing times for you and me. I encourage you to grow in generous giving because following Jesus is the truly right way to live this life.
To meet the challenge of these financial times, with excitement about the ministry victories you’ll read in this update, your faithfulness and help are needed now and through the second half. As we head into the second half, let’s join together in more prayer and generous giving. Where do you find yourself on the giving curve? A few manage with surplus. Many of us are steady. And some are in true need. In any of these, we all can enter into His grace and abundance. Along with Sandy and me, would you consider what your generous response might be?
Ministry highlights update:
New decisions: Over 100 new responses to the invitation to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior so far this year, with a goal of 200 for 2014.
New disciples: 48 new believers baptized, with a goal of 100+. Many of the 300 at the “One” service on Palm Sunday opened to the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Easter services were overflowing and vibrant.
New Small Groups: Many new group leaders are answering the call to gather and grow regularly in new small group fellowships. More are needed.
More “sending” capacity: Our first Alaska Mission Team is on the field. A new Central Salem church plant is targeted for autumn. Outreach resources of $55,000.00 invested with love in our Salem Dream Center launch. Youth Camp assistance, so far, reaches $8,300. 200+ campers on their way soon.
Looking forward with you,
