Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.
As the day progressed into evening, my little lantern quickly became my best friend. You see, my cabin didn’t have any electricity and it soon became very dark. I relied on it to light the room for my simplest needs: eating, reading, finding things. I used it throughout the weekend to light my path during my walks around the lake as it turned to dusk. I needed it to find my way in uncertain terrain.
Everyone needs light. We need physical light to make sure we can see the world around us, to avoid running into obstacles. We need spiritual light for the same reasons. Through his Word, God wants to provide light for our path.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
There are numerous promises in Psalm 119. It says that God’s word:
•…brings life (vs. 25)
•…strengthens us (vs. 28)
•…teaches us (vs.12)
•…leads us (vs 35)
•…comforts us (vs. 50)
•…satisfies us (vs. 57)
•…is where we find hope (vs. 81)
•…lights our path (vs. 105)
•…is a joy to our heart (vs. 111)
•…is always true (vs. 160)
•…gives us understanding (vs. 169)
Are you ready to see wonderful things from God’s Word? Ask Him to open your eyes to the things he wants to show you. He’s ready to turn the light on.
