Stories, thoughts and reflections on the Bible from the WSFC Staff.

HELLO FRIENDS: 02.28.14

Hello Friends,

This morning I just finished reading the Book of Acts as a part of our PAUSE Bible Reading Plan. This will be one of a number of times that we will be encouraged to read through the Book of Acts as a part of our new PAUSE Bible Reading Plan (because it’s such an important portion of Scripture). If you’d like to get one of these reading plans visit:  wsfc.org/resources/online-devotions/.  You can also find them, along with a PAUSE Journal at any of our weekend services.Bottom line: we want to help you read YOUR BIBLE!

Friends, it is God’s Word, and it is awesome. It’s so worth our time and effort to read, understand and apply the Bible to our lives. The Bible says this about itself:  “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

It’s been said that sin will keep you from the Bible and the Bible will keep you from sin.  I dare say the Scriptures are good. Thus, the reason it’s been called “The Good Book.”

Join me in reading your Bible on a regular basis. If you’re not familiar with it and don’t know where to start, then I encourage you to follow along in the PAUSE Bible Reading Plan. If you’ve gotten sidetracked or disinterested, then I encourage you to give it another go. Pick up a reading plan and start with today’s passages – don’t try to go back and catch yourself up. That will only compound the guilt or perceived shame, which is exactly the motivation of the enemy of our soul.

Don’t give in to it!

Just keep moving forward.

Remember, baby steps. 🙂

Denise and I are on this journey together with you.

Blessings,

Pastor John
