A Friday Encouragement

A dozen friends helped me to write to you today.  One suggested this great passage from the Word of God.  Others provided keywords, as they asked the Lord to guide them.  I’m writing today to lift you up, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

“In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; And though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.”
First Peter 1:6-9

This encouragement is given to us, not just as ancient words, but as living inspiration, Heaven’s energy, from God the Holy Spirit, so that we, meditating and then believing, choosing the joy of the Lord in these tumultuous days, can live as souls filled with His peace, declaring our hope in the promises of His Word.  Would you enter into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus?  Then open His living Word again today believing that He will speak to you, guiding you forward.  Such a walk demands that you have courage enough to step toward Him.  When you do, you’ll suddenly see and experience His presence.  Doubt and fear will subside in you, as it does in me.  Strength will rise because He promises to renew the strength you need when you set your mind upon Him instead of on the world.

Our God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – is fully sovereign.  And consider His timing, though we must endure with perseverance many trials and tests of faith while we are involved in His mission.  God will certainly demonstrate to us that this life has not been merely about this life, but is a mission of redemption that punctuates eternity, past, present, and future.  Each human being has his or her own will, granted by God.  But God’s loving will is that all would be redeemed out of sin and come to a knowledge of the truth.  His love is certain, even though He waits for the willing response of every soul.  In His mission, He invites you to help with the love, joy, and peace He has brought into you when the Holy Spirit entered your life.  These you possess because He is in you, but you must choose to walk in them as a young child learns to sit, walk, and stand.

Therefore, turn now to Him in love and humble trust.  Enter into pleasant worship of Him this day; though, in all His infinite mystery, you and I now know Him only through what is revealed in His Word.  Look to His Word, and welcome Him to abide in You.  Then let your bold requests, declarations of faith, and songs of love rise unto Him.

The Lord is good,

Pastor Rich
