We are given a new perspective on fear
HELLO FRIENDS,
October is one of my favorite times of the year!
It brings playoff baseball, the full swing of football season, cold outdoors, warm living rooms, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice doughnuts, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin carving, music, movies, and costume parties. October is, without a doubt, my FAVORITE month!
However, even with all this fun, it can be all too easy for fear to take center stage.
For many of us, the source of fear this October isn’t the mysteriously large number of Halloween decorations our neighbor just put up or even a new scary movie. It’s what we see in the news. It’s the unsettling developments in the Middle East. It’s what we encounter as we spend, on average, 7 hours of our day swiping and scrolling through our screens.
But we have hope.
We’ve been given a new perspective on fear, empowered by the Holy Spirit to conquer it.
2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. In the face of fear, we must rely on this truth. Seek His presence and pray diligently—for those across the seas, for those in need of protection, for those experiencing injustice. Pray for the God of Peace to be with all of us.
Instead of falling to fear or anxiety, let us embrace the courage that comes from our relationship with Christ. He is our source of strength and comfort, and we can find peace in His promises.
In a world that readily offers fear and worry, let us be the bearers of the Lord’s light, sharing it with those who need it this season.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.” (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
“And now may God, who gives us His peace, be with you all. Amen.” (Romans 15:33)
